For the first time in history, the GKA Kite World Tour heads to Nuevo Nayarit, Mexico, bringing elite Freestyle competition to one of the most exciting emerging kiteboarding destinations in the Americas

Set along the stunning coastline of the Riviera Nayarit, this event combines world-class riding with a vibrant Mexican backdrop—where warm waters, long sandy beaches, and rich local culture create a truly unique stage for competition.

A New Freestyle Playground in Mexico

Nuevo Nayarit sits within the expansive Bahía de Banderas, a region fast gaining recognition as a kiteboarding hotspot thanks to its consistent thermal winds and open beach breaks. The wind builds reliably through the afternoon, driven by thermal effects from the surrounding valleys, delivering ideal conditions for powered Freestyle riding.

Wind, Conditions & Timing

The event takes place during the region’s prime wind season, where January through June delivers the most consistent conditions, with winds typically building from midday through sunset.

Flat water sections combined with small rolling chop create the ideal Freestyle arena—allowing riders to push the limits of creativity and execution in every heat.

Festival del Viento: From Grassroots to World Stage

Just days before the World Cup, Festival del Viento takes over the beaches of Bucerías, bringing together a wide mix of riders and a strong local community. As one of Mexico’s largest freestyle kiteboarding events, it sets the tone for an action-packed week on the water.

More Than a Competition

Beyond the water, Nuevo Nayarit offers a rich cultural experience—where traditional Mexican charm meets a modern coastal lifestyle. From local cuisine and music to beachside energy and community spirit, the event delivers more than just world-class sport—it creates a destination experience for riders and fans alike.

The Future of Freestyle in the Americas

As the GKA expands its global footprint, Nuevo Nayarit marks a key milestone—introducing Freestyle kiteboarding at the highest level to Mexico and opening the door for the next generation of riders in the region.
